RICHARDSON, TX (02.19.22) - For the third straight game against Mary Hardin-Baylor, the UT Dallas softball team saw an early lead slip away as the Cru came back to take the final game of the American Southwest Conference series, 6-1, Saturday afternoon.
UMHB (17-5, 10-2 ASC) took over second place in the ASC race with the Comets (16-6, 7-5) falling down to third in the standings. UTD travels to McMurry for another ASC series next weekend.
Megan Todd, who had been on fire throughout the series, got UTD off to an early 1-0 lead in the finale, driving in
Ashley Ambrosy in the 1st inning. But the Cru answered to tie the game, 1-1, in the 3rd with a two-out single. UMHB then edged ahead, 2-1, in the 5th before exploding for four runs in the 6th inning four hits, including two home runs, to put the game out of reach.
Todd was one of just four Comets who managed a single hit in the game. FreshmanÂ
Emilie Hoelscher lasted 5.0 innings, but took the loss to fall to 6-4 on the season.
