ABILENE, TX (03.25.22) - The UT Dallas softball team was handed a pair of losses Friday afternoon as the Comets opened a three-game ASC series at McMurry.
The Comets (15-9, 7-7 ASC) will look to snap a six-game losing skid Saturday as they close the set with the host War Hawks at Edwards Field.
GAME 1 - McM 6, UTD 1
The Comets fell behind early a they suffered a 6-1 defeat at McMurry to open Friday's doubleheader.
The host War Hawks plated three runs in the bottom of the 3rd before UTD would get on the scoreboard with a
Ashley Ambrosy sacrifice fly in the top of the 5th to claw back within two runs. However, McMurry added three more runs in the bottom of the frame to complete the scoring.
The Comets managed just four hits in the loss with Ambrosy,
Cole Johnson and
Nicole Peters each finishing the contest 1-for-3. Lead-off hitter
Alexia Mullen was 1-for-4.
GAME 2 - McM 8, UTD 0 (6 inn.)
The Comets collected just one hit as they wrapped up Friday's twin bill with an 8-0, six-inning loss to McMurry.
After four scoreless frames, the War Hawks scored six runs in the fifth and completed the run-rule victory two final runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Megan Todd accounted for the Comets' lone hit in the contest, that a two-out single in the top of the 4th.
Jordan Evans reached base twice, drawing a pair of walks.
