BELTON, TX (04.05.22) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to defending ASC champion Concordia Texas in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon.
After falling behind 2-1 in doubles action, the Comets (6-4) rallied for three singles victories but still fell short in the duel between the last two ASC champions.
The UTD tandem of
Aryan Sharma and
Mario Dominguez earned the squad's lone doubles victory, holding off Evan Pena and Nico De La Pena, 8-4, at No. 3.
Carlos De Leon evened the match with a 6-1, 6-0, win over CTX's Jorge Garcia at No. 6, but the Tornados regain a 3-2 advantage with a straight-set victory at No. 3.
John Edwards then claimed a 6-2, 6-2, win over Adrian Munguia at No. 2 singles to knot the contest, 3-3, however, the Tornados followed with three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 5 to secure the team victory.
Nick Boquet closed the match with a 4-6, 6 -4, 6-1, win at No. 4 over Evan Pena.
The Comets return to action with a 2 p.m. road match at Hardin-Simmons, in a battle between last season's ASC division winners.
