RICHARDSON, TX (04.09.22) - The division-leading UT Dallas men's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 home win over Belhaven in ASC East play.
The Comets (7-5, 3-0 ASC) remained perfect in divisional action after storming through doubles play and then claiming six straight-set victories in singles.
Carlos De Leon and
Mario Dominguez got things started with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles before top-flighted
Ashwin Vaithianathan and
John Edwards soon followed with an 8-1 win.
Ryan Au Yeung and
Ritvik Ganesan closed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 2.
De Leon kicked off singles play with a 6-0, 6-0, win over BU's Cainan Black at No. 5 before
Nick Boquet gave the Comets the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Blazer Jason Ball at No. 4.
Vaithianathan (No. 1, 6-0, 6-1), Edwards (No. 2, 6-1, 6-0), Ganesan (No. 3, 6-1, 6-0) and
Noah Sam (No. 6, 6-1, 6-0) completed the singles sweep with straight-set wins of their own.
The Comets, who have already locked up at least a share of the division title and the No. 1 seed at the ASC Tournament next month, return to the courts Tuesday with a 2 p.m. road match at Ozarks to close out ASC East play.
