RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the young 2022 season by defeating Southwestern (Texas) 2-1 at UTD Soccer Complex Friday night.
The visiting Pirates (0-2-1) drew first blood just 1:53 into the contest on a goal by Caleb Allen and assist by Skyler Frey.
The Comets (2-0-1) knotted the game at 1-1 in the 31st minute when junior midfielder
Kane Kidwell ripped it into the net after passes from freshmen
Fitch Torres and
Aiden Currie.
Just over 30 minutes later, UTD scored the game winner on a free kick by sophomore
Riley O'Donnell that found junior forward
Joe Ruedi chipping in the goal.Â
The Comets outshot the Pirates 13-7 overall and 8-5 on goal. UTD also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks and the foul count was 11-7.
UT Dallas Notes
- Kidwell scored the fourth goal of his career.
- The goal was the second in Ruedi's career and first game-winner.
- Torres and Currie posted the first assists in their tenures. It was the fifth career assist for O'Donnell.

Michael Hesse split the halves in goal, with each picking up a pair of saves.
Southwestern Notes
- Jack Viles recorded six saves in goal.
- Allen, Frey, Elliot Miller, Nathaniel Blake and Luca Cipelu each had a shot on goal for SU.
