RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team opened the 2022 season by tying Rhodes 1-1 at the UTD Soccer Complex Friday evening.
The Comets (0-0-1) got on the board first when sophomore forward
Riley O'Donnell shot from the right side, beating the Lynx (0-0-1) keeper after a pass from junior forward
Luke Deats. Rhodes answered just a 3:31 into the second period with a shot to the high left of the goal by Jeffrey Mason, assisted from the right side by Jesus Tadeo.
UTD outshot Rhodes 11-7 overall and 9-5 on goal. The Comets also had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
UT Dallas Notes
- The goal was the 14th in O'Donnell's career, after leading the American Southwest Conference with 13 goals during his freshman season.
- Deats produced his second career assist.Â
- O'Donnell took six shots on goal., while Deats added two and
Omega Eyassu had one.
- Sophomore keeper
Ethan Hilliard made two saves in the first half in his first career start. Sophomore
Michael Hesse picked up one save in the second period.
Rhodes Notes
- Mason led the Lynx with three shots and two on goal.
- Eli Prticher, Jackson Thelen and Tadeo also took a shot on net.
- Mitchell Fenton posted seven saves in 90 minutes.
