RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team earned its first win of 2022, defeating Hendrix 3-1 at the UTD Soccer Complex Monday morning.
Three different players scored for the Comets (1-0-1) with three more assisting on the goals. The game was a make-up of Sunday's contest that was rained out.
Junior defender
Kayson Marriott put UTD on the board first when junior midfielder
Kane Kidwell connected with the Frisco, Texas native on a set piece. The Warriors (1-1) knotted the contest in the 27th minute when Josh Evans scored on a pass from Zack Roberts.
UT Dallas put in one more goal before halftime, when junior
Leo Castro assisted junior forward
Brandon Buchanan's goal in the 41st minute. The Comets added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute after
Joe Ruedi's shot was saved and freshman
Mohammad Chaaban rebounded it in from the left side.
UTD outshot Hendrix 16-3 overall and 10-1 on goal. The home team also held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. The foul count was 13-10 with the Warriors leading in the category.
UT Dallas Notes
- The goal was the first in the career's of Marriott and Chaaban.
- Kidwell moved his career assist total to five, while Ruedi gained his second.
- Buchanan scored the seventh goal of his career.
