Comets Cruise Over Crusaders 7-0

IRVING, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team exploded for a 7-0 road win at Dallas in non-conference action Friday night.

The Comets (4-2-1) opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a goal from sophomore forward Riley O'Donnell and an assist by freshman Hamza Syed. The game remained 1-0 until the 57th minute when O'Donnell found the net again on a pass by Joe Ruedi.

Aiden Currie connected with Nahome Abraham just three minutes later and the the Crusaders (2-3-2) recorded an own goal in the 67th to give the Comets a 4-0 lead.

Cole Morgan scored in the 75th minute with an assist from Brandon Buchanan, then Luke deats scored less than a minute later to go up 6-0. Syed hit the final goal of the game after a Morgan pass in the 85th minute.

UTD outshot UD 23-4 overall and 15-2 on goal. The Comets led in corner kicks 8-0 and fouls 12-9.

The UTD defense of Kayson Marriott, Vaughn Morgan, Gavin Smith, Jason Young, Adrian Solano, Nate Patton, Fitch Torres and Blayne Martinez combined for the offensive shuttering of the Crusaders.

UT Dallas Notes
- This was the fourth multi-goal game of O'Donnell's career. 
- Morgan and Syed each recorded a goal and an assist, firsts for both players.
- Abraham scored the fifth goal of his career. It was the second for Deats.
- Michael Hesse spent 65 minutes in goal, with Ethan Hilliard picking up two saves in 25 minutes.

Dallas Notes
- Ben Utz recorded two shots, on on goal.
- Enzo Marcello had the other shot on goal for UD.
- Anthony Gonzalez had seven saves and gave up six goals in 80 minutes.

- UTD will host Centenary (La.) in the final non-conference game of the year on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
