THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The UT Dallas men's basketball team opened the Kingsmen Classic with an 86-68 loss to host Cal Lutheran at Gilbert Arena Friday afternoon.
The Comets (6-4) were tied with the Kingsmen (8-3) 11-11 at the 13:23 mark before CLU ended the first half outscoring the visitors 30-18 to take a 41-29 advantage into the break. Cal Lutheran maintained at least a nine point lead throughout the second half before coming away with the 18-point victory.
UTD shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the field, 4-for-11 from three-point range and 14-of-17 at the free throw line. They also recorded 30 rebounds, 15 assists, 15 turnovers, one block and three steals.
The Kingsmen shot 50 percent (31-of-62) overall, 10-for-23 from outside and14-of-20 at the line with 32 boards, 23 assists, seven turnovers, two blocks and 11 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets recorded their best free throw percentage of the season at 82.4 percent.
- In his season debut, sophomore center
Austin Page led UTD with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He also had three rebounds and an assist.

Donovan Souter extended his double-digit scoring streak to nine games, netting 12 points with three assists and a steal.
- Freshman forward
Jordan Balderaz scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Junior
Rob Wade scored six points and led the Comets with eight rebounds and a blocked shot.

Matthew Soto came off the bench for eight points.

- The Kingsmen are the first team to outrebound the Comets this season.
- Patrick Renane led CLU with 17 points to go with four rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Devon Lewis scored 15 points with four boards and two steals.
- Brock Susko scored 12 with five rebounds.
- Stephen Davis posted 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Tommy Griffitts scored 10 points off the bench.
