RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team defeated Sul Ross State 62-58 in overtime in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinals.
With the win, the fourth-seeded Comets (17-9) will play in the Semifinals for the seventh consecutive season on Friday at top-seeded #8/9 Hardin-Simmons at 7:30 p.m.
UTD led 27-24 at halftime and expanded the lead to 36-27 with 5:54 left in the third. The quarter ended with the Lobos (15-11) on a 14-5 run and tied at 41-41. The visitors from Alpine, Texas pushed the lead up to five points early in the fourth quarter, before the Comets came back and tied it up at 52-52 to force the extra period.
UT Dallas maintained the lead through the overtime with Sul Ross tying it once. Jocelyne Roque put back a rebound to cut the the Lobo deficit to 60-58 with under 10 seconds left in the game. Forced to foul, UTD sophomore forward
Maggie Delascurain drained both free throws to secure the four-point victory for the Comets.
UTD shot 34.4 percent (21-for-61) overall, 6-for-21 from outside and 14-for-24 at the free throw line. They also had 44 rebounds, 11 assists, two blocks, four steals and 28 turnovers.
Sul Ross shot 35.4 percent (23-for-65) from the field, 1-for-14 from three-point range and 11-for-14 from the line with 45 rebounds, 15 assists, two blocks, 15 steals and 25 turnovers.

- Freshman guard
Amanda Crowninshield led the Comets with 17 points and grabbed a season-best six rebounds.
- Sophomore guard
Cierra Trigg scored eight points and drew six offensive fouls against the Lobos.

Kyra Samuels had five points and season-bests eight boards and four assists.
- Senior
Diane Hurst added seven points and five boards and
Lauren Fulenwider scored six points.

- Vania Hampton led the Lobos with 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
- Marley Rokas and Victoria Aguayo each scored 10 points. Rokas also blocked two shots and Aguyao grabbed eight boards.
- Emily Bunger recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.
- Kayley Diaz had four points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals.
