RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team started the American Southwest Conference schedule with a 5-3 loss to Hardin-Simmons at UTD Baseball Field Friday afternoon.
On a cold and cloudy day, the visiting Cowboys (2-5) outhit the Comets (3-2) 14-9. HSU built its lead to 4-0 over the first seven innings. UTD cut the deficit to a run in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out rally. Shortstop 
Keagan Vance doubled down the left field line and scored on a base hit by second baseman 
Andrew Skivington. 
Dylan Bivins followed with another hit down the left field line, moving Skivington to third. After a pitching change, left fielder 
Kade Turnage tripled to center field, plating Skivington and Bivins, making the game 4-3.
Cowboy shortstop Colby Seltzer hit a solo home run to lead off the ninth for the final 5-3 tally.
UT Dallas Notes
- Turnage has recorded an RBI in every game for the Comets and has driven in two in each of the last four games. 
- First baseman 
Robert Hines went 2-for-4.
- Skivington walked, singled, scored and a drove in a run.
- Vance finished the day 3-for-4 with a double and run scored.
- Bivins also had a hit and a run.
- Starter 
Ryan Vera fanned six batters and walked one over 5.2 innings in the losing effort.
- Catcher 
Coleman Camp also recorded a hit.
Hardin-Simmons Notes
- Seltzer was 4-for-5 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
- Third baseman Gannon Azios was 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly.
- Sam Buchowski also recorded a sac fly.
- Left fielder Cole Antonelli was 2-for-5 with a run scored.
- Karson Leatherwood tripled and scored.
- Starter Caidon Livingston allowed eight hits, three runs and a walk with four strikeouts to move to 2-1 on the year.
- Caleb Smith allowed one hit over 2.1 innings for the save.
