GEORGETOWN, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost a non-conference Tuesday night contest to Southwestern (Texas) 9-5 at Rockwell Field.
Both teams recorded eight hits, but the host Pirates (6-1) struck out 10 batters, while the Comets (4-4) walked 10.
UTD scored in the top of the first when senior second baseman 
Andrew Skivington led off with a base hit and later scored from third on a passed ball. SU took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame, taking advantage of two hits and a walk.
Luke Finn led off the fourth with a walk and stole second. Center fielder 
Brayshon Savage hit a two-run homer to put the Comets up 3-2. Skivington followed with a walk and a steal and scored on a base hit to left by third baseman 
Dylan Bivins.
The Pirates made the game 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, then took the lead for good with four runs on two hits, four walks and a passed ball in the fifth. Third baseman Jacob Tanner had a two-run triple in the inning. SU scored two more runs in the sixth to go up 9-4 before UTD scored the final run of the game in the seventh when 
Grayson Coltharp walked and later scored on a 
Keagan Vance base hit.
UT Dallas Notes
- Skivington reached base in all five plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a pair of walks, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base. He also extended his hitting streak to six games. 
- Savage's home run was the second in his career.
- Bivins, Vance and catcher 
Austin Nairn also recorded a hit.
- Coltharp drew two walks and scored a run.
- Finn also walked twice, scored, was hit by a pitch and stole a base.
- 
Jake Jennings was the only Comet to throw a scoreless inning, striking out two with a walk allowed in the eighth.
Southwestern Notes
- Tanner was 2-for-3 with the two-run triple and a stolen base.
- Catcher James Vaquero was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and was hit by a pitch.
- Raschke scored twice and drew two walks.
- Preston Witt also drew two walks, scored and recorded an RBI.
- Braden Simpson (1-0) earned the win, throwing two innings, allowing one hit, three walks and a strikeout.
- Ryan Corbett struck out three batters and walked one in the top of the ninth.
