BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team opened the 2023 season with a 7-2 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

The Comets opened with a 2-1 lead after doubles. The top tandem of Snehin Yerragudi and Eddy Shteyn defeated the Cru's Nicolas Cusano and Joaquim Fernandes 8-5. Nathan Qi and Ritvik Ganesan took down Brylee White and Ethan Kittredge 8-3 at the second spot.

UTD continued to roll by taking five of the six singles. Yerragudi defeated Fernandes 6-3, 6-0 at number one and Shteyn picked up a second flight win over Cusano 7-5, 6-2. 

Qi followed at number three with a 6-2, 7-6 win over White while Ganesan topped Kittredge 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth spot. Jed De Luna defeated Spencer Hornbeck 6-0, 6-4 at number six singles.

The Comets will be back in action on February 18 when they host #38 Hardin-Simmons.
