RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team defeated Ozarks 8-1 in an American Southwest Conference East Division battle at the UTD Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Comets (5-4, 2-0 ASC East) opened by taking all three doubles points, but the top two required a tiebreaker.
Nathan Qi and
Ritvik Ganesan won 8-7 (8-6) against Hikaru Yamaya and Kento Iwahara at number one.
Snehin Yerragudi and
Nick Boquet defeated Aaron Gambrell and TJ Saniseng 8-7 (7-5) in the second spot.
The Eagles (2-7, 0-1 ASC East) earned their only point at number two singles. At number one, Yerragudi topped Gambrell 6-2, 6-1 and Qi was a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victor against Joshua Wilde in the third flight.
At number four, Ganesan won over Kao Lenkopane 7-5, 6-3 and
Aryan Sharma was a fifth singles winner against Sergio Munoz 6-2, 6-1.
Jed De Luna won the Comets' final point 6-2, 6-4 at number six over Perry Guidry.
UTD will be off until they face Concordia Texas in Waco on Saturday, March 25.
