RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team finished off a four-game sweep of Ozarks by taking the final double-header on Saturday at UTD Softball Field Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (9-6, 3-3 ASC) took the American Southwest Conference opener 6-4, then defeated the Eagles (3-12, 0-6 ASC) 9-0 in five innings in a non-conference game two.
In game one, UTD picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. First baseman
Cole Johnson led off with a single up the middle, stole second and scored on a triple from second baseman
MiKayla Hoffman.
Riley Westmoreland followed with a double to left center, plating Hoffman.Â
The Comets scored two more runs in the third on RBI-singles by
Sarah Lewis and Hoffman. They went up 6-0 in the fifth on a RBI-double from Johnson and a run-scoring infield single off of Westmoreland's bat.
Ozarks picked up its first run of the series in the sixth on a run-scoring double by second baseman Gracie Jones. A three-run home run by Hayley Rivett in the top of the seventh made the game 6-4, before
Marisa Mejia came in to get the final out for her first save of the season.
Mejia (1-1) went on to throw a three-hit shutout in game two, walking one and striking out five Eagles. UTD outhit Ozarks 9-3 in the nightcap.
The Comets opened the bottom of the first with three runs on three hits and a pair of stolen bases. Left fielder
Megan Cavazos tripled and scored on a passed ball to give UTD a 4-0 lead in the second.
UTD continued with five runs on five hits in the third to make the game 9-0.Â
UT Dallas Notes
- Mejia earned a save and a win in the circle and recorded a RBI-single and scored a run.
- Johnson was 4-for-5 in both games with three RBI, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base.
- The Comets stole 10 bases on the day.

Megan Todd and Lewis each extended their hitting streaks to six games. Todd drove in two runs and Lewis had three hits with a double and a RBI.
- Todd also moved into fifth place on the Comet career RBI list with 87.
- Hoffman had two hits, two RBI, a triple and a steal in game one.
- Westmoreland had two hits, including a double, two RBI and a stolen base in the opener.

Emilie Hoelscher (5-3) started and earned the win in game one. She gave up one hit and struck otu four over three innings.
- Cavazos was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, a RBI, a triple and a stolen base in game two.
Ozarks Notes
- Mack Lucio took the loss in game one and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run score.Â
- Rivett had the three-run homer in game one and a single in the nightcap.
- Jones recorded a double and was hit twice in game one.
- Allison Cowart and Margaret Blackstar also had hits in the second game.

UT Dallas will be off until Tuesday, March 21 when they host Texas A&M-San Antonio in a double-header beginning at 5:30 p.m.
