RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 2-1 victory over Texas A&M-San Antonio at UTD Softball Field Tuesday night.
The second game between the Comets (10-6) and Jaguars (11-14) was rained out in the third inning and the statistics do not count.
TAMUSAÂ third baseman Yaya Jones hit a solo home run to left center in the top of the first. Pitcher Ebbie Rodriguez looked to be unhittable with a perfect game going through two outs in the fifth. UTD broke up the no-hitter on a
Cole Johnson bloop single and was followed by a double from
MiKayla Hoffman, but Rodriguez got out of the threat with a strikeout.
In the sixth inning, shortstop
Erin Ledesma led off with a home run over the left field fence to tie the game.
Megan Cavazos followed with a walk and was pinch ran for by
Alexia Mullen, who proceeded to steal second. Catcher
Megan Todd followed with a hit to left center, plating Mullen for the go-ahead run.
Comet hurler
Emilie Hoelscher finished the game with perfect seventh.
