Todd Ties RBI Record As Comets Split

ALPINE, Texas - UT Dallas senior catcher Megan Todd tied the school and American Southwest Conference record with eight runs batted in during the Comets' 15-4, five-inning win over Sul Ross State Friday night.

The host Lobos (4-9, 2-6 ASC) took the first game from the Comets (11-7, 4-4 ASC) 2-0 at Lobo Softball Field.

In the opener, SRSU catcher Annika Canaba hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning for the only scoring of the game.

Leanza Chambers (3-1) earned the win, striking out five, while allowing five on base with two walks over the seven-inning shutout. Emilie Hoelscher (6-4) gave up four hits, two runs and struck out four with no walks in the losing effort.

The Comets responded with a two-run first in the nightcap. After the Lobos took a 3-2 lead in the second, UTD plated 10 runs on nine hits and an error in the third. They added three more in the fourth and Sul Ross got one back in the fifth.
