UTD Completes Series Sweep of Concordia with Shutout

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team finished off a three-game American Southwest Conference series sweep of Concordia Texas with a 3-0 victory at UTD Softball Field Saturday afternoon.

Senior Emilie Hoelscher tossed her second shutout of the series, limiting the Tornados (13-11, 4-8 ASC) to three hits while going just two batters over the minimum. She struck out five batters after fanning 11 in last night's 2-0 win for the Comets (15-7, 8-4 ASC).

In the bottom of the first, second baseman Jordan Evans led off with a single and stolen base. After moving to third on a ground out, catcher Megan Todd launched a home run to straightaway center field to give UTD a 2-0 lead.

The Comets scored again in the third after Claire Pollack doubled to start the inning, moved to third on a Todd base hit and scored with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Sarah Lewis.

After the series sweep, the Comets are in three-way tie for third place in the ASC standings.
