RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team finished off a three-game American Southwest Conference series sweep of Concordia Texas with a 3-0 victory at UTD Softball Field Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Emilie Hoelscher tossed her second shutout of the series, limiting the Tornados (13-11, 4-8 ASC) to three hits while going just two batters over the minimum. She struck out five batters after fanning 11 in last night's 2-0 win for the Comets (15-7, 8-4 ASC).
In the bottom of the first, second baseman
Jordan Evans led off with a single and stolen base. After moving to third on a ground out, catcher
Megan Todd launched a home run to straightaway center field to give UTD a 2-0 lead.
The Comets scored again in the third after
Claire Pollack doubled to start the inning, moved to third on a Todd base hit and scored with a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Sarah Lewis.
After the series sweep, the Comets are in three-way tie for third place in the ASC standings.
UT Dallas Notes
- UTD outhit Concordia 9-3.
- Hoelscher improved her record to 9-4 on the season.
- Todd went 2-for-3 with two RBI. She is now tied for second on the Comets' career home runs list with 19 and tied for third with 98 RBI.

- Kannzas Haydel (1-1) allowed nine hits, three runs and two walks with three strikeouts in the loss for the Tornados.

- Mindy Matthews and Emily Schmuck each recorded a single.
