RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team secured its sixth American Southwest Conference divisional title and third consecutive in the East after sweeping East Texas Baptist 9-0 Friday at the UTD Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Comets (7-6, 4-0 ASC East) will host the ASC Championship Tournament April 20-22.
The home team started with three doubles victories over the Tigers (10-9, 3-1 ASC East). The closest win was Eddy Shtyen and
Jed De Luna winning in the third spot 8-7 (11-9).Â
In singles, UTD earned wins at all six spots.
Nathan Qi was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Bruno Brocanelli at number two and Shteyn was a 6-3, 6-0 victor against Jake Gibson 6-3, 6-0 in the third flight.Â
Ritvik Ganesan won 6-1, 6-2 over Max Karseno at four and
Aryan Sharma earned a three-set victory against Slade Austin 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 at five.Â
UTD will host Colorado College at 2 p.m. Saturday in a non-conference battle.
