RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis secured its sixth American Southwest Conference divisional title, fifth in a row and third straight East crown after defeating East Texas Baptist 9-0 Friday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The Comets (9-6, 4-0 ASC East) will be the top seed from the East at the ASC Championship Tournament hosted by Hardin-Simmons April 27-29.
UTD swept through doubles with
Saumya Vedula and
Rebecca Jackson moved to 12-3 on the season at number one, defeating Addy Seward and Fernanda Ruiz Burkhart 8-3.
Megan Zeng and
Elyssa Ducret took down Jayde Childress and Grayce Malone 8-3 at the second spot and
Suzuka Nishino and
Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen defeated Shyan Darr and Isabelle Duarte 8-2 at number three.
The Comets continued momentum by winning all six singles matchups against the Tigers (12-5, 3-1 ASC East). Nishino downed Seward 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Vedula defeated Childress 6-1, 6-0 in the second flight.
Elyssa Ducret had the closest win, defeating Maryam Sharafeldin 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) in fourth singles.
UTD will host Colorado College in non-conference action Saturday at 2 p.m.
