MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team lost the first two games of its American Southwest Conference series to #10 East Texas Baptist at Taylor Field Friday evening.
The host Tigers (28-5, 15-5 ASC) won the first game 6-0, before taking game two from the Comets (20-13, 11-9 ASC) 6-1.
In the opener, Hannah Kelley (11-2) threw six innings, striking out nine and allowing just four hits. She combined with Toni Tamborello, who threw a scoreless seventh for the shutout.
ETBU outhit UTD 9-5 in the first game. They scored three runs in the first on a pair of hits, two walks and an error. An RBI-double by Tauryn Cummings and run-scoring single by Corley Carpenter made the game 5-0 in the third. Second baseman Courtney White recorded a RBI-double in the fourth for the 6-0 lead.
Ashley Croft (14-1) earned the win in game two, striking out seven with five hits and one run allowed. Tamborello once again threw the seventh inning for the Tigers. UTD's
Kassidie Rodriguez threw her longest outing of the season, going 4.1 innings of relief with three strikeouts, two walks, two earned runs and five hits allowed.
Shortstop Tristen Maddox hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first, followed by a Croft homer two batters later. They added another run in the second and three runs on three hits and two errors in the third.
Right fielder
Claire Pollack hit a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the sixth for UTD's only run of the night.
UT Dallas Notes
- Third baseman
Addison Caddell went 2-for-3 with a double in game one. The double was her team-leading 12th of the season.

- Pollack went 2-for-3 with the solo home run and a double in game two. It was her third homer of the year.

- Cummings had four hits, including two doubles, three runs and two RBI on the day.
- Carpenter was 2-for-2 with two RBI in game one.
- White was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the opener.
- Center fielder Jalen Perez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in game two.
