LeTourneau Walks-Off UTD in Series Opener

LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team dropped the first game of an American Southwest Conference series to LeTourneau 10-8 at Conrad-Vernon Field Friday afternoon.

The YellowJackets (18-20, 12-13 ASC) opened the scoring in the first with a three-run homer by first baseman Andrew Klingenstein. The Comets (22-16, 14-11 ASC) got on the board in the third when Luke Finn drew a two-out walk and scored on a base hit by Daniel Zamora. They scored again the fifth and sixth to knot the game at 3-3.

LeTourneau regained the lead with four runs on three hits and a pair of walks in the seventh. UTD responded with five runs in the top of the eight, with freshman Nico Fernandez blasting a two-run pinch homer over the right field fence to go up 8-7.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Cameron Pfafman and Klingenstein drew back-to-back walks. The Comets picked up another out before shortstop Lane Williams hit a walk-off three-run homer to win 10-8.
