Comets Walk-Off Against YellowJackets

RICHARDSON, Texas - Senior catcher Megan Todd hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh to give the UT Dallas softball team a 3-2 victory over LeTourneau in the first game of an American Southwest Conference series at home Friday.

The visiting YellowJackets (22-13, 12-10 ASC) recorded sacrifice flies in the second and fifth innings to go up 2-0. The Comets (21-14, 12-10 ASC) knotted the game in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, right fielder Claire Pollack drew a walk and moved to third when a Addison Caddell reached on an error. Todd followed with a double off the left field wall, knocking in both Pollack and Caddell. 

MiKayla Hoffman led the seventh off with a pinch hit single up the middle and took second on a Jordan Evans bunt hit. With two outs, Todd blasted a double to right field, plating Hoffman for the game-winning run.

Emilie Hoelscher (12-7) struck out 11 batters, allowing three hits, one earned run and four walks in the complete game victory. Murphy Williams (12-5) took the loss, giving up seven hits, one earned run, two walks and a hit batter with three strikeouts.

UT Dallas Notes
- Todd was 2-for-4 with the two doubles and all three RBI. She moved into second on UTD's career list with 103 runs batted in.
- Hoelscher's 11 Ks were the sixth time this season she reached double-digits.
- Marisa Mejia recorded a sacrifice bunt and was hit by a pitch.
- Evans, Pollack, Caddell, Hoffman and Megan Cavazos each recorded a hit. 
- Hoffman extended her hitting streak to six games.

LeTourneau Notes
- The YellowJackets received a vote in this week's NFCA Top 25 Poll and are in the NCAA Regional Rankings.
- Williams was also 1-for-1 with a sac fly and a walk at the plate.
- Izzy Tresca drove in a run with a sac fly and drew a walk.
- Shortstop Kylie Grisham had a hit, a walk and scored.
- Kenna Hendry recorded LETU's other hit.
