RICHARDSON, Texas - The 2023 UT Dallas women's tennis campaign came to an end Saturday in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with a 5-1 loss to #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The Athenas (23-1) took a 2-1 advantage after doubles. The Comets' (13-7) lone point came when
Elyssa Ducret and
Megan Zeng defeated Katherine Wurster and Sena Selby, the seventh-ranked team in the region, 8-6.Â
Needing three singles victories, CMS started at number four where Selby topped Ducret 6-3, 6-1. Audrey Yoon then defeated
Saumya Vedula 6-1, 6-2 at the second spot. The Athenas secured the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win from Lindsay Eisenman over
Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen at six.
The Comets ended the season with their fifth American Southwest Conference title and fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UTD also reached the Second Round for the third time in school history.
