GEORGETOWN, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team battled Southwestern (Texas) to a 1-1 tie at Varsity Field Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (2-0-2) scored the first goal of the game in the 83rd minute when Michael Grimm converted a penalty kick. Just 25 seconds later,
Josh Zemanski crossed from the right to
Kane Kidwell, who directly headed the ball, and senior
Vaughn Morgan directed the ball with his right foot into the net to knot the game 1-1.
The Comets (0-2-2) outshot the Pirates 9-7 overall, but SU held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Southwestern also had a 4-1 lead in corner kicks and UTD committed more fouls, 20-17. Five yellow cards and one red card were issued in the game.

- The goal was the first in the career of Morgan.
