Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks LeTourneau 5-0

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's soccer team's offense sparked bright for a 5-0 victory over LeTourneau Saturday evening at the UTD Soccer Field.

The game was the second shutout of the week for the Comets (6-5) and third of the season, as they limited the YellowJackets (1-10-1) to just four shots and one on goal. The home took 33 shots, 13 on goal. They also led 5-1 in corner kicks.

The first goal of the game came in the 25th minute off the foot of freshman Jules Chavez. She shot from right to left after a touch by Amelia Griffin. Junior Chelsea Vilca made it 2-0 in the 39th minute on a left side corner kick that went through the keeper's hands.

Starting in the 81st minute, UTD scored three times in just under a five-minute span. Griffin rebounded her own shot and scored from the top of the box to make it 3-0. Just 26 seconds later, freshman Natalie Garcia spun around a defender off a deflection to post her first Comet goal. Sophomore Madison Carney found Chavez who blasted the ball in for the final goal in the 86th minute.

UT Dallas Notes
- Chavez recorded her second multiple-goal game of the year and now leads the team with six goals.
- Vilca recorded her fifth goal of the season.
- Griffin posted her second goal of the year and first assist.
- Garcia's goal was the first in her career.
- Carney had an assist in her first game as a Comet.
- Jade Press recorded one save and had her 21st career shutout. 
- Sophomore defender Maddie Meyer played all 90 minutes.

LeTourneau Notes
- Natalie Alverado took two shots, one on goal.
- Michelle Olivas and Chanel Kemball-Cook each recorded a shot.
- Kelauna Cruz had four saves in goal in 70 minutes. Abi King had three saves in the final 20 minutes.
- Jaye Dugan and Clarissa Martinez played all 90 minutes.
