SHAWNEE, Okla. - Playing in its second game in Oklahoma in four days, the UT Dallas women's basketball team battled Oklahoma Baptist until the last minute in an 80-70 loss at the Noble Complex Monday night.
The Comets (0-2) scorched the nets in the first quater, hitting 69.2 percent of their shots (9-for-13). They led the Bison (2-1) by as many as 11 before ending the opening period up 22-14.
OBU chipped away at the deficit in the second period with UTD taking a 37-36 lead into the break. Both squads were virtually even in the third quarter with the home team ending up by one at 56-55.
The Bison led by as many as nine early in the fourth, but the Comets found were only down 75-70 with 22 seconds left after a pair of free throws by junior forward
Addy Self. UTD was forced to foul OBU down the stretch in which they went 5-for-6 at the line in the final seconds for the 10-point victory.
The Comets led for a stretch of just over 23 minutes from the first quarter into the third.
For the game, UTD shot 47.4 percent (27-for-57) overall, 9-for-20 from three-point territory and 7-of-12 at the free throw line. They also had 30 rebounds, 21 assists, 22 turnovers, two blocks and 10 steals.
OBU shot 42.9 percent (24-of-56) from the field, 10-of-29 from outside and 22-of-25 at the line with 37 boards, 14 assists, 21 turnovers, three blocks and 11 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Graduate student
Anna Yellen recorded a career-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and hitting a trio of threes. She also pulled down five rebounds with two assists, a block and a pair of steals.
- Self finished with 18 points and five steals and set a new school record for most field goal attempts with a miss. She was 7-for-7, breaking Raenett Hughes' record of 6-for-6 in 2018.
- Junior forward
Liv Pedigo netted 10 points with four rebounds.
- Alex bowman added seven points, four boards, two assists and a pair of steals.
- Senior guard
Trystan Clark dished out five assists with four points.

Oklahoma Baptist Notes
- Mackenzie Crusoe led all players with 22 points, going 11-of-12 at the charity stripe. She also had four rebounds, five assists, a block and three steals.
- Payten Cooke scored 13 points with four rebounds.
- Kennedy Large added 12 points and five board.
- Sierra Copeland grabbed 10 rebounds with two assists, two blocks, two steals and five points.
- Katelyn Davis and Catyn Graham each scored 10 points off the bench.
