Women's Soccer Ends 2024 with 3-0 Win at ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas women's soccer team wrapped up the 2024 campaign with a 3-0 victory over East Texas Baptist at Cornish Field Saturday night.

Freshman Alicia Aguiñaga opened the scoring for the Comets (8-7-1) with a goal in the 39th minute. Fellow freshman Jules Chavez converted a penalty kick just over two minutes later to give a 2-0 advantage over the Tigers (5-10-1).

Aguiñaga found junior Chelsea Vilca in open space for the final goal with 1:03 remaining in the game. 

UTD outshot ETBU 24-9 overall and 11-3 on goal. 

UT Dallas Notes 
- The Comets are now 17-9-8 under head coach Stephen Shirley in two seasons.
- UTD posted its 25th winning season in 27 tries.
- Senior goalkeeper Jade Press posted her fifth shutout of the season with three saves. She finishes her career tied for second in program history 256 career saves fourth with 23 shutouts.
- Vilca finished the season with a team-leading 10 goals.
- Chavez posted nine goals on the season.
- Aguiñaga's score was the second of the season and first game-winner. She also had her first assist on the year. 
- Amelia Griffin, Claire O'Sullivan and Kaley Robison each played 90 minutes.
- It was the final collegiate game for Rylyn Reyes, O'Sullivan, Press and Faith Autery.

East Texas Baptist Notes
- Keeper Cadence Tischler stopped eight shots.
- Sarah Ramos, Landry Hamel and Mallory Duncan each took a shot on goal.
- Duncan recorded two shots overall.
