GEORGETOWN, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team kicked off a stretch of three road games in four days with a 73-62 win over Southwestern (Texas) at the Robertson Center Wednesday evening.
The Comets (5-5) scorched the nets in the first quarter, shooting 71.4 percent (10-of-14) and led 28-14 at the end of the period. They extended the advantage to 18 in the second before leading the Pirates (3-6) 41-29 at halftime.
UTD took a 61-42 lead into the final quarter before Southwestern went on an 18-5 run to make the game 66-60 with 3:16 remaining. The Comets ended the game with a 7-2 rally for the 11-point win.
UTD shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) overall, 5-for-19 from three-point territory and 18-of-23 at the line. They also recorded 37 rebounds, 11 assists, 14 turnovers, one block and six steals.
The Pirates shot 34.7 percent (17-for-49) from the field, 6-of-13 from outside and 22-of-30 at the free throw line with 24 rebounds, 12 assists, 16 turnovers, one block and nine steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Junior forward
Addy Self was just shy of a double-double, leading the Comets with 16 points and nine rebounds.
- Senior guard
Alex Bowman reached double-digit scoring for the eighth time this season with 15 points. She was 5-for-5 at the free throw line with three assists.
- Freshman guard
Jayla Lewis scored a season-best 14 points and grabbed three boards.

Amanda Crowninshield added seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Anna Yellen scored six points and tied a career-high with three steals.
- The Comets improved to 8-4 all-time against the Pirates.
Southwestern Notes
- Adrianna McCoy paced the Pirates with 19 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Trinity Benitez had 16 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Alex Romero came off the bench for 15 points and five boards.
- Ellie Ward had five points, five rebounds and four assists.
