SHERMAN, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball picked up its second victory in three days as they defeated Austin 79-45 at Hughey Gym Friday afternoon.
The Comets (6-5) led the 'Roos (4-4) entire game, benefited by their top offensive and defensive performances of the season. The visitors led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter and took a 44-23 advantage into halftime. UTD continued to pull away in the second half and led by as many as 37 points in the fourth.
The Comets recorded season-bests in points (79), field goals made (29), three-pointers made (10), rebounds (45) and steals (18) and limited AC to just 28.3 percent (15-of-53) shooting and 45 points.
UTD shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) overall, 10-for-22 from three-point range and 11-of-14 at the charity stripe with 19 assists, 14 turnovers and three blocks. The 'Roos went 5-of-23 from outside and 10-of-16 at the line with 35 rebounds, 13 assists, 23 turnovers, one block and nine steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- For the ninth time this season, senior guard
Alex Bowman scored in double digits, coming up with 16 points. She also recorded a pair of assists and three steals.
- Graduate student Anny Yellen came up with 11 points, a blocked shot and two steals.
- Junior forward
Addy Self had 10 points, five boards, three assists and two steals.
- Senior guard
Trystan Clark had a season-high five steals and moved into 10th on UTD's career list with 126.
