RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team defeated Texas Lutheran 72-66 Friday night at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets (4-5) were led by junior center
Austin Page's career night, coming up with 31 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. Senior guard
Nick Donnelly was also on fire, scoring 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting overall and 5-of-6 from long distance.
With the game tied at 18-18 midway through the first period, UTD went on 11-2 run over the next three minutes to go up nine points. The Bulldogs (2-6) battled back and trailed the home 37-36 at halftime.
The squads exchanged the leads three times with a pair of ties over the first five minutes of the second half. The Comets took the lead for good at 43-42 on a Donnelly three-pointer at the 14:55 mark. UTD led by 11 with 26 seconds left with TLU scoring on its last two possessions to end the game down by six.
The Comets posted their second-best shooting performance of the season, going 24-for-44 (54.5) from the field. They also tied a 23-year old school record by shooting 66.7 percent (8-for-12) from beyond the arc. UTD were also 16-of-25 from the free throw line with 36 rebounds, 19 assists, 20 turnovers, seven blocks and nine steals.
The Bulldogs shot 40.7 percent overall (24-for-59), 6-for-19 from three-point range and 12-for-22 at the line with with 28 boards, 14 assists, 14 turnovers, one block and 15 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Page posted career-highs in points (31), rebounds (13) and blocks (4) while going 11-for-15 from the field and 9-of-14 at the line.
- Donnelly tied his career-high of five three-pointers made and for a season-best 20 points and five assists.
- Freshman guard
Peyton Dulin scored in double-digits for the third consecutive game and sixth time this season with 10 points. He also recorded four steals.
- Sophomore forward Joardan Balderaz dished out five assists to go with a pair of steals and five points.

Zach Spitzer had a season-best three assists and three blocked shots.

Rob Wade chipped in four points and pulled down five rebounds.

Bryce Potts grabbed five boards with two assists.

- Semaj Edwards led the Bulldogs with 15 points and made a trio of three-pointers.
- Mason Wallace played 38 minutes and went for 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Darnell Horton came off the bench to score12 points.
- Easton Allen added 10 points and four rebounds.
- Teddy Tapken came up with five points, five rebounds, a block and a pair of steals.
- Isaac Orozco dished out five assists with three steals.
