RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team battled #17 Southwestern (Texas) in a 6-3 defeat at the UTD Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (1-1) took one point in doubles with
Benjamin Dubois and
Nick Boquet topping Bernado Clemente and Nikolas Moret 8-6 in the second spot. The Pirates' (3-0) Jared Burton and Travis Rafferty needed a tiebreaker to defeat the #3 tandem of
Nathan Qi and
Jed De Luna 8-7 (8-6).
UTD picked up a singles victory at #2 when Qi, who is ranked #35 in the nation, defeated Ashton Ellis 6-1, 6-1. Dubois earned the final point for the home team with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win over Anton Borovik at number six.
Dubois remains perfect this spring, moving his record to 2-0 in both singles and doubles.
The Comets will be back in action next Saturday at McMurry in Abilene, Texas at 2 p.m.
