ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team will face LeTourneau at 5 p.m. Friday night at the Mabee Complex in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals.
In head coach
Jared Fleming's first season, the Comets (16-9) were the co-regular season champions and the second seed in the tournament and take on the YellowJackets (17-9), who defeated Concordia Texas 89-76 in in the Quarterfinals Tuesday. UTD won both regular season contests, 103-81 at home on January 13 and overcoming a 28-point deficit in the second half on February 15 in a 102-98 victory in Longview.
The winner will face the victor of host Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor in Saturday's Finals at 6 p.m.
The Comets are making their 21st consecutive appearance in the tournament and have an all-time record of 21-16. UTD won the ASC title in 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2019.
Senior guard
Donovan Souter leads UTD with 19.3 points per game to go with 109 rebounds, 51 assists and 31 steals. He has also drained 84 three-pointers, five away from tying the program record. Sophomore center
Austin Page averages 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds and leads the team with 16 blocked shots while shooting 63.3 percent from the field.
Junior guard
Nick Donnelly is second on the team with 49 three-pointers made and shooting 89.8 percent at the free throw line. He averaged 12.3 points per contest with 64 assists and 24 steals.
Luke Kiser has dished out 139 assists while recording 44 takeaways and averaging 9.8 points and 5.3 boards.
Freshman forward
Jordan Balderaz leads the Comets with 7.5 rebounds per game while scoring 8.3 points. Junior forward
Rob Wade is shooting 51 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range while averaging 7.4 points per game.
As a team, UTD ranks 16th in the nation with 17.5 points per game. They lead the ASC in assist/turnover ratio (1.13), rebound margin (6.4) and scoring margin (5.2).
Kiser is third in all of Division III with 6.3 assists per game and 19th in total assists. Souter is ninth in three-pointers made per game (3.21), 13th in attempts and 14th in makes.
