TUCSON, Ariz. - The UT Dallas softball team wrapped up the Tucson Invitational Games at Lincoln Park on Friday by defeating Hartford 3-2 and losing to Salve Regina 3-1. The Comets (10-7) went 4-1 in the Grand Canyon State.
Game 1 vs. Hartford
UTD scored in the top of the first when sophomore right fielder
Claire Pollack doubled and crossed home plate after two passed balls. The Hawks (6-4) tied the game in the bottom of the inning with Alexis Sealey walking and scoring after three consecutive passed balls.
The game stayed at 1-1 until Pollack scored on a dobule from third baseman
Addison Caddell in the top of the fifth. The Comets took a 3-1 lead in the sixth when
MiKayla Hoffman singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Olivia Reed.
Hartford threatened in the bottom of the seventh after Mara Sczecienski led off with a base hit and reached third on an error. Gia Miccio knocked her in with a sac fly, making the game 3-2. Comet hurler
McKenzie Cutbirth ended the game with a strikeout and a pop up.
The Comets outhit the Hawks 6-4 in the game.
Game 2 vs. Salve Regina
The Seahawks (3-5) posted a pair of runs on two hits and two errors in the top of the third to take an early lead. They went up 3-0 in the fifth after Emily Lane was hit by a pitch and scored later on a wild pitch.
UTD's only run came in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Mullen laid down a bunt for a single and moved to second on an error. After a walk and a Caddell single, Mullen crossed the plate on a base hit to center from
Cadence Hernandez.
UTD outhit Salve Regina 6-2. Two of the three runs given up by the Comets were unearned.
UT Dallas Notes
- Cutbirth moved to 7-0 on the year, striking out four while giving up four hits, two walks on no earned runs.

Marisa Mejia (2-3) took the tough loss against the Seahawks, allowing two hits and two unearned runs with one strikeout over four innings.
- Hernandez recorded two hits in each game and drove in a run.
- Caddell was 2-for-4 with four walks and a double.
- Pollack recorded a double and scored twice in game one.

Julia Guerrero stole a base in each game as a pinch runner.
Hartford Notes
- Gracie Hopkins (0-1) gave up six hits, one earned run, five walks and struck out one in the loss.
- Alex Hassett stole a base.
- Miccio had the lone RBI with a sac fly.
- Sydney Matz, Anita Farkash, Olivia Wolk and Sczecienski each had a base hit.
Salve Regina Notes
- Caroline Peterson (1-0) earned the win, giving up six hits, one run, five walks and striking out four.
- Lane scored two runs and was hit by a pitch.
- Sam Franceschi was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
- Morganti Bello had a RBI-pinch hit single.
