ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost both games of an American Southwest Conference double-header against McMurry at Walt Driggers Field Saturday afternoon.
The War Hawks (6-7, 3-3 ASC) defeated the Comets (8-3, 4-2 ASC) 5-0 in the seven-inning opener, then won 8-7 on a walk-off home run in the 11th of game two.
Game One
First baseman Nolan Scherencel hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first to put McMurry on the board. They added a run each in the third, fourth and sixth innings.
Ethan Wendel (2-0) earned the win, striking out five batters with three walks and five hits allowed over six innings.
Ryan Vera (2-1) struck out five in the loss for UTD.
Game Two
McMurry built a 6-0 lead through six innings before UTD picked up a run in the seventh after left fielder
Lucas Rexin led off with a single and later scored on base hit by
Jaeger Self.
The Comets took a 7-6 lead in the top of the ninth on six runs, four hits, two errors and three walks. Senior second baseman

Nico Fernandez had a two-run triple in the inning.
With one out in the bottom of the ninth, third baseman Riley Hood singled to center, moved to second on a Josh Dyer base hit and scored on a Scherencel hit to left, tying it up at 7-7. Dyer hit the walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th with one out on a 1-0 pitch.
Gabriel Aragon (2-0) struck out two in two innings of relief to pick up the win for the War Hawks.
Ben Price (0-2) took the loss for the Comets.

- Rexin went 4-for-8 on the day, stole a base and was hit by a pitch.

- Xavier Escobar was 3-for-5 with a dobule in game two.
- Starter Hunter Poe went 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits, one run, one walk and three strikeouts in the nightcap.
