RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team recorded a victory over a NCAA Division II member at the UTD Tennis Courts Monday afternoon, topping Missouri-St. Louis 5-2.
The Comets (4-2) opened the match by taking the doubles point with two wins.
Andres Gonzalez and
Nathan Qi defeated the Tritons' (5-6) top duo of Raphael Kerndl and Juan Vigil 6-2 and
Benjamin Dubois and
Nick Boquet won at number two 6-4 over Jose Mayorga and Joshua Mackey. The third spot came down to a tiebreaker, with UMSL eking out a 7-6 (10-8) win over the team of
Snehin Yerragudi and
Noah Sam.
UTD went on to claim four of the six singles battles. Gonzalez won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at number one and Yerragudi topped Vigil 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in the third flight. Dubois won easily over Marcos Navas 6-3, 6-0 at four and
Jed De Luna claimed a number six victory 1-6, 6-4, 12-10 against Gavin Sohn.

- De Luna moved into fourth place on UTD's career singles victories list with 33.
- Boquet is now tied for ninth in program history with his 23rd doubles win.Â
