RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team won its sixth consecutive game and completed the series sweep of Concordia Texas with a 2-1 victory at UTD Baseball Field Friday afternoon.
Senior right-hander
Dylan Hugley cruised through seven innings for the Comets (18-7, 8-4 ASC, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out three.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when catcher
Nico Fernandez singled and
Josh Johnson was hit by a pitch to start the frame. After a sac bunt from
Grayson Coltharp,
Garrett Neeley knocked in Fernandez on ground ball error by the Torandos' (13-13, 5-10 ASC) third baseman.
Albert Garza followed with a ground out that allowed Johnson to cross the plate.
In the top of the ninth, pinch hitter Kalen Clark led off with by reaching on a two-base error. After the next two batters flied out, Mason DuBois knocked in Clark with a pinch hit single to right. Reliever
Derek Brieden ended the game by striking out Zach Seigrist swinging.
UT Dallas Notes
- Hugley improved to 5-1 on the season with the win on the mound.
- Brieden earned his first save of the year, with a strike out and allowing three hits and an unearned run over two innings.
- Right fielder
Lucas Rexin was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
- Fernandez was 2-for-3 for his 10th multiple-hit game of the year. He also scored a run and drew a walk.

- Rowdy Hoadley (2-1) took the loss for the Tornados, allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks with seven strikeouts over six plus innings.
- Seven different players recorded singles.
- DuBois had the only RBI of the game for Concordia.
- Brandon Goynes recorded a hit, walk and a stolen base.
