CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The UT Dallas softball team split the first two games of its American Southwest Conference series with Ozarks at Clarksville High School Field Friday afternoon.
The Comets (5-6, 3-2 ASC) took the opener 11-3 in five innings while the Eagles (4-8, 1-4 ASC) won the nightcap 7-3.
Game One
Senior left fielder
Alexia Mullen led the game off with a base hit, stole second and moved to third on an error.
Claire Pollack plated Mullen with a ground ball then
Addison Caddell hit a solo homer to center field to give UTD an early 2-0 lead. Junior second baseman
MiKayla Hoffman started the second with a base hit and later scored on base hit by Pollack.
Ozarks tied the game in the bottom of the second with three runs on a trio of hits, including a two-run single from pitcher Mack Lucio.
The Comets answered with a seven-run fourth, taking advantage of seven hits, including a three-run shot by catcher
Celeste Soliz. The final run of the game came in the fifth when Pollack drove in shortstop
Erin Ledesma.
Junior
McKenzie Cutbirth moved to 3-0 on the year with complete game victory. Lucio (1-3) took the loss for the Eagles. UTD outhit UO 14-4.
Game Two
A
Cole Johnson RBI-double, scoring Mullen opened the second game for the Comets. The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame. UTD went up 3-2 with a two-run single by Pollack in the second.
Ozarks scored four runs on five hits and a walk in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-3 lead. Designated player Jessye Rowland had the big hit in the inning with a two-run double. The Eagles added one more run in the sixth for the 7-3 score.
Ozarks outhit UTD 8-6. Allyson Fultz (1-3) earned the win while freshman
Allison Koch (1-3) took the loss.
UT Dallas Notes
- Cutbirth tied a career-high with nine strikeouts in game one.
- Caddell's home run was her second of the year, while Soliz belted her first.
- Mullen went 5-for-6 on the day with three runs scored, a RBI and three stolen bases.
- Pollack drove in six runs and leads the team with 16 on the season.
- Hoffman was 4-for-6 in the two games with a double and three runs scored.
- Johnson recorded a double in both contests.

- Fultz allowed six hits, three runs and two walks with one strikeout in game two.
- Lucio, Kya Schmidt, Allison Cowart and Saige Mahar each had a hit in game one.
- Rowland was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in game two.
- Hayley Rivett drove in three runs and recorded a dobule.
- Fultz was 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and a walk in the second game.
