UTD Takes Series Finale at Ozarks 12-2

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The UT Dallas softball team finished its American Southwest Conference series against Ozarks with a 12-2, five-inning victory at Clarksville High School Field Saturday afternoon.

The Comets (6-6, 4-2) outhit the Eagles (4-9, 1-5 ASC) 10-8 and took advantage of four errors, four walks and a pair of hit batters.

UTD opened the game with three runs in the first. Addison Caddell had a RBI-single, followed by a run-scoring double from Cadence Hernandez and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cole Johnson. An error in the bottom of the inning led to a Ozarks run.

The Comets continued with five more runs in the top of the second as they came up with five hits while the Eagles made two errors and had two passed balls. UTD went up 11-1 in the third with a solo home run to center field by Claire Pollack to led off the inning. Holly Selldin had a pinch-hit sac fly in the fourth to make the game 12-1. Pitcher Allyson Fultz had a run-scoring base hit in the fourth for the Eagles' final run of the contest.

McKenzie Cutbirth moved to 4-0 on the year with her second win of the series. Morgan Haupt (1-2) took the loss for Ozarks.

UT Dallas Notes
- Cutbirth fanned three batters, allowing one earned run and six hits over four innings.
- Taylor Nicole Marchin threw a scoreless fifth inning to close out the game.
- Pollack hit her third home run of the season, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored, a RBI and a walk. She leads the Comets with 17 RBI this season.
- Left fielder Alexia Mullen stole her 12th base of the year and moved into fifth on the UTD career list with 48.
- Hernandez was 3-for-3 with  a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Johnson went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a sac fly.
- Catcher Celeste Soliz scored a run and recorded three RBI.

Ozarks Notes
- Hayley Rivett went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Left fielder Kya Schmidt was also 2-for-3.
- Shortstop Mack Lucio recorded a base hit and a run scored.
- Allison Cowart and Gracie Jones also had a hit each.
