SAN ANTONIO, Texas - For the third time in five days, the UT Dallas baseball team defeated Centenary (La.), this time in a 16-12 offensive battle at Trinity Baseball Field Saturday.
The Comets (11-4) outhit the Gents (5-7) 17-15 and posted four sacrifice flies in the contest. The teams were tied at 7-7 after the first two innings. UTD came up with six hits en route to a five-run fourth inning. A walk, hit batter, single and an error led to two more runs to give the Comets a 14-7 advantage in the fifth.
Centenary picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and UTD added one in the seventh for a 15-9 lead. The foes from Shreveport added another run in the bottom of the eighth. The Comets also gained a run in the ninth and the Gents' Collin Pitts hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth for the final 16-12 score.
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior third baseman
Dylan Bivins went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a pair of runs. Through 15 games, he has 24 runs batted in.
- Second baseman
Albert Garza recorded a pair of doubles and three walks while scoring four times. He leads the team with seven doubles.
- First baseman
Zach Landry was 3-for-6 with a double, RBI and run scored.
- Seven of the Comets' starting nine recorded two or more hits and all nine batters record a run batted in.

Lucas Rexin had two hits, two runs scored, a RBI and stole a base.
- Right fielder
Luke Finn had one hit, a sacrifice fly, a sac bunt, a walk, a RBI, stole bases and scored three times. He leads the Comets with 26 runs and nine steals this season.Â
- Catcher
Payton Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double, sac fly, three batted in and two runs.

Jaeger Self was also 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI and two stolen bases.
- Sophomore
Kasey Klyng (1-0) picked up the win in relief, going three innings, allowing three hits, an unearned run a walk and two strikeouts.
- Senior
Kenny Garza threw a scoreless sixth inning in his season debut.
Centenary Notes
- Right fielder Austyn Benoit was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI, two doubles and a stolen base.
- Third baseman Clay Menard had a double and drove in three.
- Pitts was 2-for-4 with the two-run homer.
- First baseman Alex Miller drove in two with two hits.
- Starter Blaine Hardy lasted just two innings and allowed five hits, six earned runs and three walks.
