Cru Capture Game One of Series from Comets

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost the first game of its American Southwest Conference series 9-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor at UTD Baseball Field Friday afternoon.

The Comets (21-9, 11-5 ASC) got a lead off home run from senior right fielder Luke Finn in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0. UTD went on to load the bases with one out, but the rally ended on line drive double play to the Cru's (20-10, 12-7 ASC) third baseman.

UMHB went on to score nine runs from the fourth-to-the seventh innings. Third baseman Rhett Grosz hit three home runs, driving in six runs in the game.

James McGlumphy (5-2) earned the win, walking three and allowing four hits and one run over eight innings. The Cru outhit the Comets 9-4 and stole nine bases, while UTD committed four errors.

UT Dallas Notes
- Finn hit his team-leading ninth home run of the season. He also drew a walk.
- Third baseman Dylan Bivins extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
- Albert Garza and Nico Fernandez also recorded base hits.
- First baseman Zach Landry drew a pair of walks.
- Dylan Collins (4-1) allowed six hits, five runs and two walks while striking out six in the losing effort.
- Trevor McGrath struck out one in 2.1 perfect innings of relief.

Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Catcher Elijah Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a RBI.
- Cameron Talburt was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two walks and three steals.
- Carson Hagan also stole three bases, with a hit, walk and run scored.
- Jayden Chatman was hit twice, stole a pair of bases and scored twice.
- Gavan Hutton struck out one and walked one in the ninth inning.
