BELTON, Texas - UT Dallas opened its three-game American Southwest Conference series with Mary Hardin-Baylor with a 2-1 and a 7-6 loss at Dee Dillon Field Friday evening.
Game 1
The Cru (15-12, 9-8 ASC) took advantage of an error in the bottom of the first and Bailey Frenzel connected on a two-run single.Â
The game remained 2-0 until the top of the seventh when the Comets (15-13, 6-8 ASC) got on the board. Sophomore right fielder
Claire Pollack led off with a double and moved to third on a fly out by
Addison Caddell.
Cadence Hernandez knocked in Pollack to make it 2-1. UMHB pitcher Eileigh Whyte (10-5) ended the game with a pair of fly balls.
Game 2
Holly Selldin drove in
Cole Johnson, who led off the top of the second with a base hit and a stolen base, to give UTD a 1-0 lead. They went up 6-0 in the third after three hits and four walks - three of which came with the bases loaded.Â
The Cru tied the game with a six-run fifth inning. They had six hits in the frame, including a three-run homer by Frenzel. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, UMHB loaded the bases and ended the game on a Madeline Stephenson base hit that drove in Shorey Nguyen.

McKenzie Cutbirth (10-2) took the hard-luck loss in the opener, allowing five hits, one earned run and one walk with three strikeouts.

Marisa Mejia (3-6) took the loss in game two.
- Pollack had the only extra-base hit of the day with the double in game one.
- Hernandez extended her hitting streak to 13 games, going 3-for-7 with two RBI and a run scored on the day.
- Johnson was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base.
- Selldin recorded two RBI with a base hit and a walk in game two.
- Second baseman
MiKayla Hoffman was 2-for-4 with a run scored and steal in game two.
Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Ella Gambin (1-0) earned the win in game two with 4.2 scoreless innings of relief.
- Whyte struck out five, and allowed three hits and a run in game one.
- Frenzel was 3-for-6 with five RBI on the day.
- Nguyen had a hit, two runs, two sacrifice bunts and three stolen bases in the two games.
- Stephenson was 2-for-3 in game two.
