BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team was defeated 2-1 by Mary Hardin-Baylor in the American Southwest Conference series finale at Dee Dillon Field Saturday afternoon.
The host Cru (16-12, 10-8 ASC) got on the board in the first when Shorey Nguyen singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on a base hit from Taylor Henken. Two errors and a two hits led to UMHB's second run in the bottom of the second.
The Comets (15-14, 6-9 ASC) answered in the top of the fourth when third baseman
Addison Caddell singled to left and scored on a
Cole Johnson triple. UTD threatened in the top of the seventh when
Cadence Hernandez and Johnson recorded back-to-back singles to start the frame. Cru pitcher Eileigh Whyte got out of the jam by ending the game with a pop up, fly ball and strike out.
UT Dallas Notes
- Johnson went 2-for-3 with the RBI triple.
- Hernandez pushed her hitting streak to 14 games with the single in the seventh.
- Left fielder
Alexia Mullen and
Celeste Soliz each had a single.
- Caddell singled and scored the only run of the game for the Comets.

McKenzie Cutbirth (10-3) took the loss in the circle, giving up eight hits, four walks and one earned run with four strikeouts.
Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Whyte (11-5) struck out five and allowed six hits and a run. She was also 2-for-2 with a run scored at the plate.
- Henken went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
- Nguyen singled, stole a base and scored.
- Tori Skinner recorded a double.
