RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team lost both game of an American Southwest Conference double-header to #3 East Texas Baptist Friday evening at UTD Softball Field. The Tigers (29-2, 19-1 ASC) edged the Comets (15-16, 6-11 ASC) 2-1 in the opener, then won 9-1 in five innings in game two.

Game One
Shorstop Tristen Maddox led the contest off with a walk and stole second. She then scored on an error to give ETBU a 1-0 lead. In the top of the sixth, Tauryn Cummings doubled and was pinch ran for by Hannah A. Kelley. Haylie Stum singled down the third base line, plating Kelley to go up 2-0.

Freshman first baseman Cadence Hernandez hit a solo home run over the fence in center field in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit in half. The Comets threatened in the seventh with runners on first and second and two outs. Tiger starter Hannah Benevides induced a line out to end the game.

Both teams recorded five hits and UTD drew three walks, to just one for the Tigers.

Game Two
ETBU scored three runs in the first, the fourth and fifth innings to take a 9-0 lead. With one out in the bottom of the fifth, second baseman MiKayla Hoffman singled, moved to second on a Celeste Soliz bunt and scored on a base hit from Gracelyn Taylor for the Comets' only run of the game.

The Tigers outhit the Comets 13-4 for the game.

UT Dallas Notes
- Hernandez' home run was her second of the season. She had a 15-game hit streak end in game two.
- Third baseman Addison Caddell walked twice in game one and recorded a base hit in the nightcap.
- Hoffman singled in both games.
- Alexia Mullen, Cole Johnson and Soliz also had hits in game one.
- Claire Pollack also singled in game two.
- McKenzie Cutbirth (10-4) only allowed five hits, one earned run and a walk while striking out two in the tough game one loss.

East Texas Baptist Notes
- Benevides (12-0) gave up five hits, one run, three walks and hit two batters with one strikeout in the opener.
- Cummings was 3-for-5 on the day with a double and a two-run homer. 
- Courtney White had three hits on the day, including a double and three RBI.
- Catcher Delanie Loya was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in game two.
- Stum also had three hits, including a solo home run in game two.
- Shelby Navarrete went 2-for-3 with a double and two batted in in the second game.
- Tristen Maddox stole a base, had a double and scored three times. 
- Avery Holland (6-0) struck out three, giving up four hits and a run in game two.
