RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team used one of the season's best defensive efforts to defeat Mary Hardin-Baylor 70-50 at the UTD Activity Center Thursday evening. Graduate student

The Comets (10-6) held the Cru (10-5) to 31.4 percent shooting (16-of-51) and forcing 23 turnovers, leading to 27 points - the highest for a UTD opponent this year.Â
UTD led 20-10 after the opening period and 41-27 at halftime. They led by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter before coming out with the 20-point victory.
The Comets posted season-highs of 47 rebounds, including 17 offensive, and 16 steals. They also shot 40.3 percent (27-for-67) from the field, 7-of-26 from three-point range and 9-of-12 at the free throw line with 19 assists, 18 turnovers and six blocks.
UMHB went 4-for-18 from outside and 14-for-26 at the line to go with 35 rebounds, seven assists, six blocks and seven steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Yellen shattered her previous career-high of 19 points by shooting 11-of-22 with five three-pointers made.Â
- Senior guard
Alex Bowman recorded 10 points, five rebounds, tied her career-high with six assists and blocked two shots.
- Junior forward
Addy Self just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals. This was her second double-digit rebound performance of the year.
- Forward
Liv Pedigo added seven points and five rebounds.
- Senior
Cierra Trigg posted five points.
- Freshman center
Ellery Sample blocked two shots and pulled down nine rebounds.
- Junior guard
Raven Busby tied a career-best with four steals and dished out three assists.
- Guard
Trystan Clark had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Josie Bruder paced the Cru with 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. She went 7-for-8 at the line.
- Amillion Fowler recorded nine points and five rebounds off the bench.
- Rache Okoye scored seven points.
- Jaycie Brisco and Katelen Brooks both scored six points with Brooks adding three assists and two blocks.
