ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball earned its fifth consecutive victory by defeating McMurry 66-60 at Kimbrell Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (9-5) led the War Hawks (7-2) 23-19 at halftime and would build as much as an 11-point advantage in the third quarter.Â
Trailing 49-41 early in the fourth, McMurry went on a 15-0 run to go up 56-49 with 5:04 remaining. UTD trailed 59-54 at the 3:23 mark and ended the game on a 12-1 run to escape Abilene with the six-point victory. Junior forward
Addy Self put the Comets up for good with a pair of free throws with 36 seconds left. She added two more free throws, along with
Anna Yellen's one and a pair from
Cierra Trigg to ice the game.
UTD shot 34.8 percent (23-for-66) from the field, 4-for-26 from three-point range and 16-of-25 at the free throw line. They also had 35 rebounds, 10 assists, seven turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
McMurry shot 43.2 percent (19-of-44) overall, 3-for-19 from outside and 19-of-26 at the stripe with 37 boards, 12 assists, 18 turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Freshman center
Ellery Sample came off the bench for 15 points, four offensive rebounds, two assists and a block. She was 6-for-7 from the field.
- Self finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Senior guard
Alex Bowman added 13 points and seven rebounds.
