Comets Remain in First with 3-1 Win Over Rattlers

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team defeated St. Mary's 3-1 at the UTD Soccer Field Wednesday to remain unbeaten and in first place in the Lone Star Conference.

With the win, the Comets improve to 9-3-2 overall and 5-0-1 in league play with four matches to play.

First Half Highlights
- Callum Thompson scored the opening goal for UTD in the 14th minute on a header off a corner kick by Jordan Jones..  
- The Rattlers (2-5-6, 1-4-1 LSC) had multiple attempts on goal, including a saved shot by Dyllan Mendoza at the 28th minute.  
- The Comets maintained pressure with shots from Ryan Anderson and Carson Burden, both saved by Johnny Thurbin.  
- Ryder Claborn made key saves, including a stop against Enzo Jaques in the 41st minute, preserving the 1-0 lead at halftime.  

Second Half Highlights
- Avery Brazzell scored for UTD in the 47th minute after pulling the keeper out and arching the ball to the right corner to extend the lead to 2-0.  
- The Rattlers applied pressure with multiple shots, but Claborn made crucial saves, including one in the 71st minute.  
- Cooper Stephens reduced the deficit for StMU with a goal in the 65th minute, assisted by Jaques.  
- Jones sealed the win for the Comets with a fastbreak goal in the 87th minute, resulting in a final score of 3-1.

The Rattlers outshot the Comets 20-10, but the home team led 6-5 in shots on goal. St. Mary's led in corner kicks, 7-2, while UTD committed more fouls, 9-6.
