UTD Blanks Sul Ross 1-0, Extends Lone Star Lead

ALPINE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team extended its Lone Star Conference lead with a 1-0 victory over Sul Ross State at Lobo Field Saturday.

With three games remaining, the Comets (10-3-2, 6-0-1 LSC) need a victory and a tie to secure at least a share of the regular season LSC title.

This is the 24th 10-win season in UTD's 28-year history.

First Half Highlights
- Sebastian Martinez took an early shot for Lobos (5-4-5, 3-2-3 LSC) in the first minute, but it went over the goal.  
- Sophomore keeper Ryder Claborn made a crucial save at 6:39, denying another attempt by Martinez to keep the score level.  
- UTD increased pressure with multiple shots on target, including a near-miss from Avery Brazzell that hit the left woodwork at 20:30.  
- The Lobos' Isaac Poole made several key saves, including one at 28:31, to maintain the scoreless draw heading into halftime.

Second Half Highlights
- UTD opened the half with a shot on target by Callum Thompson, saved by Poole.  
- In the 75th minute, SRSU's Marlon Meda received a red card, reducing the home team to ten players.  
- Sophomore forward Osi Iyamah scored the decisive goal for the Comets in the 82nd minute, heading in a shot to the bottom right corner.  
- Claborn made several crucial saves in the final minutes, preserving the 1-0 lead and securing the win for UTD.
