RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team suffered an 87-86 loss to Adams State at the UTD Activity Center Saturday night.

Hudson Goellner gave the Comets (0-7) an 85-81 lead with 1:23 left. Dilan Baker answered with a three-pointer to cut the Grizzlies' (5-2) deficitÂ
After missed baskets by both teams, junior
Jordan Balderaz hit one-of-two free throws to put UTD up 86-84 with 4.2 seconds left. Wyatt Helming scored a lay-up on an inbound pass from Luke Williams and was fouled with 1.2 seconds remaining. Helming sealed the game for ASU with the free throw.
The Comets shot 43.3 percent (29-of-67) from the field, 11-of-24 from three-point range and 17-of-24 at the line. They also recorded 37 rebounds, 26 assists, 13 turnovers, four blocks and seven steals.
The Grizzlies shot 48.5 percent (32-of-66) overall, 6-of-20 from outside and 17-of-19 at the stripe with 36 rebounds, 25 assists, 14 turnovers, nine blocks and five steals.

- Goellner scored a season-best 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds, six offensive.

- Williams led the Grizzlies with 28 points, going 9-for-9 at the free throw line. He also dished out eight assists.
- Helming recorded 21 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and four blocks.Â
- Baker made four three-pointers en route to 14 points.
- Jaylen Alexander had 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
