ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the young season, defeating Texas Wesleyan 5-2 at the Arlington Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The Comets opened the match by taking two of the three doubles battles to win the first point.
Snehin Yerragudi and
Harshom Gupta won 6-1 over Fabio Martin-Abril and Adriano Andrade at number three and
Benjamin Dubois and
Travis Rafferty were 6-2 victors against Luca Link and Marco Salamanca in the top doubles spot.
Yerragudi, Dubois and Eddy Shyten each won in third-set tiebreakers. Yerragudi was a 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 10-3 victory over Malte Jon Sommer at number two and Dubois defeated Andrade 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 at three. Shteyn topped Elliott Hoffman 6-2, 4-6, 12-10 at four singles. The final point came at number six by
Matheus de Freitas Zanellato in a 6-4, 6-2 win against Martin-Abril.
UTD will host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
